Poetry Books about Dinosaurs

Even the popular topic of dinosaurs has been the unlikely subject of poetry. Whether presented as an exploration of their size, scale and mystery or spoofing those same qualities, these poetry books offer near-instant appeal for dinosaur fans.

            The list begins:

Crotty, K.M. 2000. Dinosongs: Poems to Celebrate a T-Rex Named Sue. New York: Scholastic.

Florian, Douglas. 2009. Dinothesaurus. New York: Atheneum.

Fortey, Richard. 1990. The Dinosaurs’ Alphabet. New York: Barron’s.

Foster, John, comp. 2002. Dinosaur Poems. Oxford: Oxford University Press.

Greenfield, Eloise. 2001. I Can Draw a Weeposaur and other Dinosaurs: Poems. New York: Greenwillow.
